Interesting thread under the original at Reddit. Both for what will be the attacks on Olsen for owning a site called "ihatethemarinecorps" and the reaction of fellow Marines and vets. To the first, i find it interesting how many liberals will talk about service(wo)men as brainwashed killers, yada yada yada and then rush to use Olsen's injury for propaganda purposes. It's similar to how many conservatives will talk up supporting our troops until one of them does something they don't like and then he's not a real troop. America FuckedUp Yeah! To the second, that thread ran strongly towards supporting Olsen against a few who said he wasn't a "real" Marine. I'm not sure that America understands the likely shitstorm from returning combat vets with injuries, slashed benefits, no jobs, debt slavery and having been through the meat grinder of wars that only have meaning to their fellow Americans through the lens of domestic politics. It would be interesting if Olsen's actions and injuries sparked a national conversation about that, but they won't.
