The Real World

Commentary By Ron Beasley

I haven't been posting much.  My job as care giver for my 89 year old mother has become increasingly demanding.  But I still have time to observe.  I know it's spring fall because the geese are flying over.  Of course the leaves are changing.

  1. Beautiful, Ron. I'm jealous.
When my reliable old Nikon F (Photomic-T, circa 1966) finally gave up the ghost (and now along with the obsolescence of celluloid film) I sprang for a "really good" Canon of some sort. It takes spectacular pictures, zooms, and all that. But outdoors I can't see the damn screen and have no idea what I'm photographing. And the new SLR cameras, which really expensive, STILL aren't actually "through the lens."
And as far as I can tell can't they pull the shutter in for a depth-of-field preview. When I say that to young sales people they look at me as though I had asked for a hand-crank for my car motor.
Thank goodness the kids all have cameras, now phones, with cameras that do everything.

Wait a minute! Spring? Did you move to the southern hemisphere without telling us? :)
