By Dave Anderson:
My family is a Democratic base family: secular, union, well educated and liberal. Some days I think I am either the median member of the family, or to the right of the median member of the family. My younger sister lives in Greater Boston and is a Democratic base super-voter; she votes before the senior centers are bused in.
This is the text message she sent me this morning:
Dude, just voted, for the party not the candidate; Scott Brown is a douchebag.
That is a severe motivation problem right there.
It was enough of a motivation to get me to turn off last night's Conan monologue. Which is saying something. Also, completely unofficial polling at the office: most of my coworkers kind of feel the way I do. Coakley is entirely unimpressive as a candidate, but the Democratic agenda is too important to risk it. Most of my friends and colleagues are voting today. Hopefully she makes it, then we can start looking for someone better qualified for 2012.
