I don't recall a time when the party out of power feared a president so much they were willing to behave self-destructively to defeat him. So far any Republican who is not batshit crazy seems afraid to point to the madness around him and call it what it is -- self-destructive, delusional madness. The collective result is a game of chicken as the economy crashes and burns.
