Commentary By Ron Beasley
Why Would Anyone Want The Job? That's a question I asked in 2008 because I was convinced the economy was too broken to fix. Well we are into the 2012 election cycle and the question remains the same. If the world finacial system dosen't collapse before November of 2012 it will certainly collapse at some point in the following four years. With oil at or near $100 bbl there will be no economic growth so there is no possibility that a highly leveraged economy can make good on it's obligations. The too big to fail banks will fail. China and India will fail. Extreme weather is upon us - drought and floods = death. The climate change deniers in Texas and Oklahoma are learning the hard way they were wrong.
The proverbial shit is about to hit the fan - who in thier right mind would want ot be top dog when that happens? Perhaps that's why the Republican nomination process is a clown show. If nobody in their right mind would want the job you get candidates that aren't in their right mind.
Which makes one wonder why Obama wants to e reelected.
ReplyDeleteOr why becomes a professional warrior in times of war. Family? Self image? Guilt? Delusions of invincibility?
ReplyDeleteUnlike pilots or ship captains who may die as their plane or vessel goes down, ex-presidents have a chance for another role -- a golden parachute of sorts. Actually they are more like actors than warriors.
