Les Paul, the pioneering musician and inventor responsible for some of the finest guitars in the business, as well as for multitracking, overdubbing and the eight-track cassette, has died in New York from complications of pneumonia. He was 94.
The BBC had this comment from Slash, of Guns and Roses:
"Les Paul was a shining example of how full one's life can be. He was so vibrant and full of positive energy. I'm honoured and humbled to have known and played with him over the years."
Other rock legends who used his guitars have lined up to pay homage to the great man.
