Commentary By Ron Beasley
My posting has been limited the last week or so and it's not because I don't have anything to write about. As I mentioned below I had a death in the family. I was very close to my uncle who had been there for me at times of need. After a year and half of Hell on earth his death was a blessing but it's never easy to let go. My second attempt at an excuse is the weather.
The problem is the weather has been great making it impossible for me to put off the seasonal yard chores. I planted my tomatoes today. I grow lots of tomatoes and can/freeze them to see me through the winter. Although I'm a bald headed Swede it was my Italian X mother in law that taught me to cook so I need lots of tomatoes. I also planted some flowers and have a lot to go. In the past this was something my mother would do but she's just not up to it anymore. She will be 88 in September.
I have lots of stuff bookmarked and should be back soon.
Anyone who expects to have more time as they get older is dreaming. I sure understand. My post-retirement job is supposed to be part-time and optional but I just finished forty hours yesterday and have eight today. (It will ease up next week but even an agency can't abruptly change schedules when unexpected stuff happens.) Retirement can be a time-consuming gig.
ReplyDeleteI got an idea: How about publishing a couple of recipes (like your picture of the week) to keep in touch. Tips for the perfect marinara would be a good start.
My condolences, Ron. Hope the tomatoes come up well!
ReplyDeleteI'll repeat what I said privately, Ron - you have all of our best wishes at this difficult time and as our Aussie friends say, "no worries" on posting. Newshoggers isn't a business, its more like a family and blogging should certainly be something that's fun. Take your time as you need to.
ReplyDeleteRegards, Steve
